PowerTec Power Rack Review

Power racks are a seriously awesome piece of equipment to purchase for your home gym, though due to their size they do not suit every house.

But if you are going to get one, you’ll want to ensure that it is of the highest quality. This is because no piece of fitness equipment ever has to withstand as much load as a power rack.

Think about it, if you’ve got a fully stacked barbell set, you’re going to have the weight of the barbell and the weight of the plates, all resting on your power rack.

If you’re about to squat a new personal best, you really want to make sure that the power rack you’re using is seriously good quality!

What We Like About the PowerTec Power Rack

This is a seriously cool power rack. Made by PowerTec. A company that is much better known for making power tools rather than power racks.

This power rack is very cleverly designed, providing more than just the regular power tower attributes.

There is an excellent multi-grip pull up bar on top of the power rack, as well as a set of dip bars on the side.

This means that in addition to all of the standard exercises you can perform in a power tower (bench press, incline bench press, shoulder press, back squats, front squats, shrugs, rack pulls) there are some excellent bodyweight exercises you can add too.

With a rack capacity of 400lbs, this power rack isn’t going to suit powerlifters or very experienced bodybuilders. But for a regular person? 400lbs is more than they are ever going to squat.

This power rack is perfect for home gyms, and is made from only the best materials. Solid steel throughout.

You can expand the tower by purchasing the lat tower extension, which helps add upper back exercises to your routine.

What We Don’t Like About the PowerTec Power Rack

We were a little surprised that the max weight capacity for the rack was 400lbs, as we said above that weight will be more than enough for most.

But there are many people who can squat more than 400lbs who are going to be left disappointed.

We’d have also liked to see a few more optional attachments. Sure the lat tower is kind of cool, but what about a landmine attachment?

Or some push up handles? Simple attachments that could upgrade this power rack even further.

Final Verdict

This is a very good power rack, ideal for the new home gym owner. You will be able to lift a lot of weight in this power rack with little fear of any issues occurring.

If you are a powerlifter then this isn’t the power rack for you, but then again few non-commercial power racks are!

This is going to grace any home gym, we love the dip station attachment, the pull up bar attachment is great, and provided you purchase yourself an incline weight bench, you’ll be able to complete a full body workout on this, no problem.
