Gold’s Gym is the original, old school, gym. It is a lifter’s mecca. The names associated with Gold’s Gym are some of the biggest in the bodybuilding world.

That being said, Gold’s Gym equipment isn’t anywhere near as big a player in the fitness equipment world as you’d have thought. But could all that be about to change?
New products are coming out all the time, and we’re hearing a lot of good things about some of the newer Gold’s Gym products.
In this article we’re going to be taking a look at the Gold’s Gym XR 10.9 Power Tower, looking at everything that makes it good, any potential pitfalls, and helping you to decide whether the Gold’s Gym XR 10.9 Power Tower is the right choice for you.
What We Like About the Gold’s Gym XR 10.9 Power Tower

The best thing about the Gold’s Gym XR 10.9 Power Tower is the number of body weight exercises it is possible to perform on it.
You can do overhand and underhand pull ups, raised push ups, bodyweight dips, hanging leg raises, and several variations of each. All of this in a power tower that barely takes up any space.
Thanks to the very long frame, the stability of this lightweight power tower is superb. There’s no danger of it toppling over while you’re on it.
The padding is excellent, and the power tower is made from strong steel that is properly welded.
This power tower is going to revolutionize your home workouts, allowing you to train multiple muscle groups through a huge variety of exercises.
What We Don’t Like About the Gold’s Gym XR 10.9 Power Tower

What you have to remember about this power tower, is that it is designed for home-use and is not built for commercial use.
This means that it won’t be as sturdy and durable as the type of power tower you’d find in a commercial gym.
But it really doesn’t need to be. There are a couple of issues though.
In our opinion, the dip handles are a bit rubbish. Too narrow, and too short. They’re also quite high up, which is fine if you want to perform weighted dips but makes it quite difficult for shorter people to get up there easily.
It’s a similar issue with the pull up bar. Very high off the ground, and with handles on the end that are not particularly comfortable or great for gripping.
Minor complaints, but hey, that’s what we’re here for!
Final Verdict
The Gold’s Gym XR 10.9 Power Tower is a superb piece of kit for a home gym. There are a large variety of body weight exercises you can perform on it, and it is well made and sturdy.
It’s not going to rival the type of equipment you’d find in an expensive commercial gym, but then again it is nowhere near as expensive as those pieces of equipment would be.
A very reasonable power tower for the price it is sold at.
