Power cages are an essential part of all gyms, whether they are commercial gyms or home gyms.
They allow you to perform numerous exercises safely and effectively. Squatting, push presses, bench presses, incline bench presses, seated shoulder presses … the list goes on and on.
Power cages are one of those items that you really don’t want to cheap out on either, the more stable and well made they are, the higher your chances of surviving!
In this article we will be taking an in-depth look at the Fitness Reality 810XLT Super Max Power Cage, one of the best power cages currently on the market.
What We Like About the Fitness Reality 810XLT Super Max Power Cage

The first thing you notice about this power cage is the max weight capacity of 800lbs, that is very generous, and should satisfy even the strongest of home gym users.
The power cage has two different pull up bars, a regular one and one that allows a neutral grip pull up.
There is also a bar at the bottom that can be used for raised push ups.
There are two sets of safety bars, which are fully-adjustable and can be placed at any height to suit your needs.
The thing about this power cage is that it’s all about the attachments.
An adjustable weight bench will help you perform bench presses, seated shoulder presses, and incline presses.
A landmine attachment will help you perform landmine squats or T-bar rows, dip bar attachments can help you … well … dip!
That’s what is so cool about this product, you can keep adding things that you want to it and multiplying the number of exercises that are possible.
What We Don’t Like About the Fitness Reality 810XLT Super Max Power Cage

As functional as this power cage is, we have to admit that it isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing power cage out there.
Even though it has an 800lbs max weight capacity, it just doesn’t look that stable. Of course, how something looks isn’t much of an argument, but there are better-looking power cages out there.
Looks aside, the only real issue is that the power cage is a little top-heavy, while it is as sturdy as they come (at least for a non-commercial power cage), it can be moved horizontally and laterally a little too easily.
We’d recommend getting the Olympic Plate rack and filling it with weights, these will really help to anchor the power cage.
Final Verdict
For a home gym you are unlikely to find a better value for money power cage at all.
The ability to continually improve the product with add on features is really exciting, and Fitness Reality are a reputable company with a good reputation.
This will serve you well so long as you remember that it is not commercial standard. Purchasing the Olympic Plate rack attachment like we recommended in the previous section would seriously fix any stability issues. If you can manage that, then you’ve got yourself an absolute steal here.
